Ernest Gardner Edwards attended Bloomfield Academy, New Bloomfield, Pa. He was a teacher in Guelich Twp, Clearfield Co., Pa., 1887-'89, and Census Enumerator for the same township in 1890. He was appointed Cadet at West Point, but resigned. He entered Pa. State College, class of '94, and in Feb. '91 transferred to LaFayette College, Easton, Pa., from which institution he received the B. A. degree in 1894. During his college career he was Captain of football team (1893), Editor-in-Chief of "the Layfayette" (1893), and during his course held many class offices. He entered University of Pittsburgh, Medical Department in 1894, receiving the M. D. degree in 1897. While there he organized the "West Penn Clinic," which afterwards became the official organ of the Medical Department of University of Pittsburgh. At the same time he served as coach to the Washington and Jefferson College football team during seasons of '94 and '95. He took special work in surgery and radiography at N. Y. Polyclinic, Philadelphia Polyclinic, and Chicago Polyclinic. He was Assistant to his father, Dr. W. H. Edwards, for six months following graduation. He located at New Sharon, Me., Nov., 1897; Norridgewock, Me., July, 1898; and LaJunta, Colo., Sept., 1902. He was organizer of The City Hospital, LaJunta, Colo.

Member of Sons of American Revolution; Loyal Legion, Society of Colonial Wars; Knights Templar; Scottish Rite of Colo; Beta Theta Pi, Phi Beta Pi, and Theta Nu Epsilon College Fraternities.
